It is with great excitement that we introduce you to Grace Feeney, the newest member of the Physio Éireann team. Grace won’t be a stranger to most of you as she was born and raised in Ardara and moved to the UK to complete her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Brighton University. Prior to studying physio she completed a degree in Health Science and Physiology in the Institute of Technology Sligo, so she has a keen interest in both helping clients recover from injury and giving them the tools to remain active long term.
On completion of her degree Grace remained in the UK and obtained a wide range of experience within the National Health Service. This included working in acute neurology; assessing and treating stroke patients, acute respiratory which involved treating a variety of patients with COPD, bronchiectasis and muscular dystrophy and spent a considerable amount of time in elderly rehab, initially trying to ensure patients remained at home and then in hospital assisting their safe discharge from acute care. Grace also comes to us having worked in paediatrics, where she was involved in providing care to children with complex needs including autism and cerebral palsy.
In addition to inpatient care, Grace has worked in musculoskeletal outpatient departments both in England and then in Belfast, which means she comes to Physio Éireann with extensive experience of dealing with all the common muscles, tendon and joint injuries that present in our clinic. Grace also has a keen interest in the management of sports injuries, she has worked with GAA clubs and has her pitch-side first aid certificate. She has also completed post graduate training in strapping and taping.
Away from her professional life Grace has always had a keen interest in sport, playing football and being involved in boxing while in England . Coming from a sporty background, she appreciates the importance of effective rehabilitation and returning to activity as quickly as possible.
Here at Physio Éireann not only are we delighted to have Grace on the team but we are very proud to have an Ardara lady back home to help the local community with their aches and pains.
Grace is fully registered with CORU the governing body of Physiotherapy in Ireland and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in the UK.
