Ciara first studied Health Science and Physiology in the Institute of Technology Sligo before moving to the UK and completing a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Coventry University. While in the UK Ciara gained valuable experience working within the National Health Service in both the outpatient and inpatient setting, including working with patients recovering from stroke, vascular surgery and helping elderly clients recover from their inpatient stay in preparation for returning to their homes. Ciara spent time in the George Eliot Hospital where she treated a variety of MSK conditions. Within this setting she gained a wealth of knowledge on the management of acute muscle, joint and soft tissue injuries.
Ciara then moved to Northern Ireland, working in Altnagelvin Hospital Derry. Here she spent time building her knowledge and skills in areas including surgical rehab, ICU and onocology. Treating a wide variety of patients including patients pre and post operation, acute respiratory patients in ICU, oncology patients during and post treatment. Despite her experience in the inpatient setting her passion sits in dealing with musculoskeletal injuries. She has continued her studies and gained further qualification in combined taping techniques, sports massage and dry needling. Additionally Ciara has completed her Level 3 Diploma in mat based Pilates with the Sports Fitness Academy.
Away from work Ciara is a marathon runner and not just for fun, but competes in all distance runs, winning a local marathon and competing in others around the country.
Her own experience and knowledge in athletics puts her in a unique position to understand injury and rehab management from both the perspective of the physio and the client.
